Fayeeza Naqvi

Fayeeza Naqvi

Fayeeza Naqvi is Co-founder and Chairman of the Aman Foundation. She is a passionate humanitarian who, for the last two decades, has dedicated herself to improving the socioeconomic
lives of the underserved in Pakistan.

Fayeeza is a Trustee of the British Asian Trust and a Founding Member of the Advisory Board of the London School of Economics-South Asia Center. In addition, she recently joined the Board
of The Malala Fund.

Fayeeza has been recognized globally for her humanitarian work. In 2015, Fayeeza received the BNP Paribas Grand Prix award for Individual Philanthropy. In 2016, she received the Global Humanitarian Award for Woman’s & Children’s Health, presented by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population & Reproductive Health at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health for this work. In 2016, she also received the Power of Purpose award from Devex, an annual award presented in partnership with McKinsey & Company, honoring the top women leaders in global development. In 2017, she was honored with the Schwab Social Entrepreneur
of the Year Award.

She is a strong supporter of art across the MENASA regions. She is a member of the Selection Committee for the Abraaj Group Art Prize and a member of the Tate Modern International Council. Fayeeza is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Arif Naqvi

Arif Naqvi established The Abraaj Group in 2002 and has served as its Group Chief Executive since inception, building it into one of the leading private equity firms in the world. Abraaj is widely recognised as a pioneer of global growth markets private equity with 25 country offices including six regional hubs in Dubai, Istanbul, Mexico City, Mumbai, Nairobi and Singapore. Mr. Naqvi has over three decades of experience of investing in public and private companies and has led the Group’s investment strategy, resulting in some of the most notable private equity transactions across global growth markets over the last decade.

Mr. Naqvi is a Trustee of the Interpol Foundation and on the Board of the United Nations Global Compact, the Global Leadership Council of Columbia University, Endeavor Global, and is the Chair of the Middle East Centre Advisory Board of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a Council Member of the Belfer Center International at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art in London.

Mr. Naqvi has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Oslo Business for Peace Award, the highest form of recognition given to individual private sector leaders for fostering peace and stability through business, and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, a prominent civilian honor awarded by the Government of Pakistan. In 2011, Private Equity International named him as one of the 50 most influential people in the global private equity industry. In 2008, Mr. Naqvi and his family established The Aman Foundation. Mr. Naqvi is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Ahsan Naqvi

Ahsan Naqvi is an Analyst at The Abraaj Group, and has been a Trustee of the Aman Foundation since 2010, representing the Aman Trust.

Mr. Naqvi is a strong advocate of vocational education as a means of alleviating widespread poverty across the country and as a mechanism for correcting the imbalances prevalent throughout today’s society.

Mr. Naqvi is a graduate of the London School of Economics, with a BSc (Hons) in International Relations and History.

Faaris Naqvi

Faaris Naqvi is a graduate of Columbia University, New York, with a B.A. in History and Political Science, prior to which he grew up in Dubai.

Faaris is currently working on building out an early stage ecosystem platform across growth markets to help grow the impact of technology enablement and urban city consumer growth. He also worked at the Abraaj Group as an Investment Professional in both Dubai and Istanbul.

Faaris is a strong advocate of equal opportunity and access to transparent information which has spurred his drive to build out the impact of technology which he sees as an equalization tool. He is also a keen sportsman and avid traveler.

Falak Naqvi

Falak Naqvi

Falak Naqvi has a BA (Hons) in Fashion Management from the University of the Arts in London, and is currently pursuing a post-graduate program in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s Institute in London. Her early education was in Dubai.

She has a strong focus on community outreach programs with a particular focus on youth empowerment as an agent of change, is a trustee of the Aman Foundation, and a member of the YPO and Giving Pledge Next Generation organisations.

Falak spent four years working at Al Tayer Group as a retail management specialist, being a part of the buying team that sourced inventory for Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdales, Dubai.

Dr. Saadia Quraishy

Dr. Saadia Quraishy

With over 30 years of clinical experience in medicine and specialization in psychiatry in Pakistan and UK, Dr Saadia Quraishy has been on the Board of Aman Health since 2012. She is now the Chairperson of MASHAL, Aman Foundation’s mental health inititiave. She is also the Chairperson of an international partner organization in mental health, Basic Needs (BN), working in collaboration and funded jointly by British Asian Trust and the Aman Foundation. MASHAL has helped BN in its expansion into the Aman Community Health Program areas. In April 2014 she introduced Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to Pakistan in collaboration with MHFA Australia which is present in 23 countries in the world; for this she procured a franchise for Pakistan to promote mental health awareness. She also led the founding of a mental health alliance for the first time in Karachi of over 20 organizations working in mental health called Mental Health Forum.

Dr Quraishy is a graduate of Dow Medical College, Karachi and has been educated and worked in premier institutions in Karachi as well as in the UK, including 17 years at Guys and St Thomas, Ealing and Charing Cross hospitals in London. She has been trained in medical management at the Kings Fund in London Evidence-based medicine and research at Merton College Oxford and has been a tutor and lecturer for psychiatry, medical ethics and problem based learning to undergraduate medical students at Imperial College. Between 2006 and 2013 she led multidisciplinary hospital and community-based psychiatric teams as consultant in West London, prior to returning to Pakistan.

Waqar Siddiqui

Waqar Siddique is Managing Partner, Risk and Internal Audit, at The Abraaj Group. Mr. Siddique serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The Abraaj Group.

In the course of his career, Mr. Siddique has specialized in strategic business development, operations, governance and risk management within leading private sector firms in the Middle East and South Asia.

Mr. Siddique serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, and is on the Board of Directors of INJAZ Pakistan. He is also a member of IMD Executive Education Advisory Council.

Before joining The Abraaj Group, Mr. Siddique was the Chief Executive Officer of the Cupola Group. In 1999, he was one of a team of senior directors who concluded a landmark private equity deal of acquiring Inchcape Plc’s interests in the Middle East.

Saima Ismail

Saima Ismail

Saima Ismail is the Advisor to the Chairman of Aman Foundation.

She has over 12 years of international experience in the public and private sectors in leading corporate and program strategies and innovative organizational transformation strategies. Prior to joining Aman Foundation, she was a core member of the Director-Generals Office of Strategy at the Abu Dhabi Education Council. She has previously, also worked with Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Operations practice in New York, at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget, at the Social Policy and Development Center in Pakistan and at the Orangi Pilot Project in Pakistan.

She has a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia University with a concentration in Advanced Policy Analysis and a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences.

Mujahid is Executive Director – Finance,SBD, Procurement & Strategy of the Aman Foundation.

He has over 14 years of diversified experience in North America and Asia – Strategy, Business Development & Sales, Greenfield projects launch, Distribution, Brand Development, & Financial Management. Previously he was associated with Engro Corporation as part of the Strategic Business Development unit and executed the launch of retail dairy business and setting up new consumer brands for B2B and B2C local and international sales of Agri products. In North America, he worked in Private Equity covering venture financing to incubate technology, green energy, and bio-tech startups.

Mr. Zaheer Chand has 15 years of experience in managing situation analysis, needs identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs in various sectors. He possesses expertise in designing, executing innovative strategies and service delivery mechanisms for projects and programs.

Before joining Aman as the General Manager, Measurement, Learning, & Evaluation (MLE), Mr. Chand worked at organizations like UNICEF, PTCL and World Call.

He acquired his Masters in Business Administration from Leeds Metropolitan University, where his thesis was on Employee Motivation and Stake-holding in a Manpower Services organization.

Malik Ahmad Jalal

Ahmad Jalal has more than 15 years of international experience and has a proven record in the field of financial management, operations and investment banking.

He has been associated with The Abraaj Group since 2011. He joined the group as a member of the investment management team and has been involved in execution of several transactions in the Middle East, Pakistan and within the Healthcare sector.

Prior to joining The Abraaj Group, Mr. Jalal was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs where he was primarily involved in strategic level financial matters for the Investment Banking Division and the Principal Investments Area. He started his career with Deloitte in London within Assurance and Business Advisory and was later moved to the Private Equity Due Diligence team.

Mr. Jalal is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He received a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics and an MPA/International Development with a concentration in entrepreneurial finance from the Harvard Kennedy School. He is a member of The International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Amir Nawaz

Mr. Aamir Nawaz brings with him a diversified global as well as local experience of more than 15 years and a proven track record of success in Internal Audit, Compliance and Risk Management. Before accepting the position of Chief Internal Auditor at the Aman Foundation, he served as Senior Manager Audit, Asia Pacific region at HSBC, Hong Kong and also worked with Ernst & Young, HBL and MCB bank Ltd.

At Aman, Mr. Nawaz is responsible for audit, compliance and business risk review.

Mr. Nawaz graduated from the Institute of Business Administration with a Master’s degree in Economics, Banking and Finance. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) , Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) and pursuing for Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

He enjoys playing cricket and table tennis. He is a movie critic and likes to watch independent foreign movies and read books. He has also been involved in volunteering professionally in Kyrgyzstan and Gilgit Baltistan. He is fond of travelling and alternative music.

Khaqan Sikander is a French and American educated executive management professional with degrees in Management, Economics, French, Spanish & Arabic.

Under his most recent assignment as Head of Strategic Operations & Business Partnerships at Aman, he is responsible for Partnerships, Marketing, Communications, Quality Assurance & Health Operations at the Foundation.

In the past, in addition to United Nations Millennium Development Goals (now SDGs) focused projects in Middle East (UNRWA, Lebanon, 2006), Latin America (UNESCO, Costa Rica, 2007) and Africa (UNIDO, Senegal 2009), he has been working in the development and corporate sector of Pakistan over the last decade. He has primarily been associated with Acumen Fund through one its first portfolio companies in low-income housing sphere of Pakistan, Ansaar Management Company, looking after their dual portfolio of business development & community development. Moreover, in his entrepreneurial career, he has also co-founded & launched his own manufacturing based start-up in the energy sector of Pakistan.

A steadfast proponent of the road less traveled, Khaqan, over the course of his career has been fortunate enough to work in conflict zones, live in refugee camps, survive a full-scale war and write a book.

Maha Rehman

Maha is a Senior Technical Advisor at Aman Foundation. She served as an advisor for the Measurement, Learning and Evaluation (MLE), Strategy and Organizational Development (OD) department, for Aman Foundation from 2012 to 2015 and is currently serving as Senior Technical Advisor for Strategy and Oragnizational Development at Aman Foundation. She has also been a visiting faculty at SZABIST for Human Resource Management as well as Training and Development to the Executive MBA program. Over the years, Maha has undertaken several impact assessment studies, monitoring assignments as well as grant funded research for local and international organizations including but not limited to Shirkat Gah, Aahung, Ipas, RAF (funded by British Council DFID and AusAid), DAI implemented ILM Ideas, Care Foundation, Kashf Foundation, Nur Foundation, Fatima Memorial Hospital, and Lahore University of Management Science. She brings inter-professional experience of over 16 years in the fields of Monitoring and Evaluation, Microfinance, Education, Training, Research, Organizational Development, Public Health, Community Development and Women’s Development.

Elishba John is a seasoned HR professional with 12 years of experience in building robust people practices that help create the next generation of leaders. Has a flair for working closely with the business to fulfill talent needs, create an agile workforce and adjust HR strategies to respond to changing business needs. Enjoys managing organizational changes, believes HR to be a trusted thought leader for business and helps develop an ‘agile’ culture within the organization.

She joined the Social Sector with the passion to work for a social enterprise that offers innovative solutions to grass roots issues faced by the underserved community. Prior to this she was performing a business partnering role at Syngenta, a global market leader in agribusiness and National Foods Limited, a pioneer in local FMCG industry, where she gained a well-rounded experience in all HR areas. In her association with Sensei International, she conducted leadership interventions for international conglomerates.

Elishba is a graduate of Institute of Business Management with majors in Human Resources and Marketing. In addition, she is a certified trainer and Neuro Linguistics Programming practitioner and uses both to coach, engage and retain people.

Shazina Masud

Shazina Masud

Ms. Shazina Masud is the Executive Director for Community Services and Advocacy at Aman Foundation. She brings over 20 years of experience in private sector marketing and sales, including experience in social marketing and social franchising of reproductive health products and services. Ms. Masud has been working in the development sector for the last ten years and has experience of leading on country projects in Africa and Asia. Since March 2018, Shazina has joined as an Executive Director with Aman Health.

Previously, as Country Director for PSI /Nepal, Ms Masud has been responsible for stream lining PSI’s social marketing of family planning products and introducing innovative and market oriented initiatives to create a brand identity for the network of 400 private sector providers. She was also instrumental in partnering with the government to strengthen their capacity in providing long term family planning as well as medical abortion. Ms. Masud also spear headed PSI/Nepal’s emergency response to the earthquake in Nepal, by scaling up current programming as well as introducing immediate measures provision of water chlorination solution as well as partnering the government, as needed.

Ms. Masud has a Masters in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Karachi, Pakistan and is in the process of completing a MS in Creativity in Change and Leadership from Buffalo College, New York.
